SEO Site Fix!
A friend just asked why his site had no traffic. It's beautiful, for a brochure, but not for generating any traffic. It's intended to help rent his house in the Bahamas: Here it is: Bahamas Rental
I first checked to see if Google knew about it. Typing the pathname into Google search I got:
Sorry, no information is available for the URL home.earthlink.net/~l.radzinski/index.html
* If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link: home.earthlink.net/~l.radzinski/index.html
* Find web pages that contain the term "home.earthlink.net/~l.radzinski/index.html"
Nope, Google doesn't yet.
Next, I checked traffic on Alexa.com - basically zippo. Alexa is an OK, although quite inaccurate.
So what's wrong with this site? Basically everything!
(Note this isn't a blog, although the same SEO concepts apply to any website, blog or not)
My suggestions:
1) The title (in the "title" tag) of the site NEEDS to contain "Bahamas" and "rental."
A key attraction of this house is the superb nearby bonefishing. Probably "bonefish" and bonefishing" should be included. I'd use a keyword selector tool to help decide on keywords.
2) He needs to use these "keywords" over and over and over in a natural way in his text.
3) He needs incoming links. He could write or blog very short articles/stories on bonefishing/Bahamas/etc, put them on the site AND submit them to an article directory like ezinearticles.com, which will get him critical back links.
4) Give the pictures an "alt image" tag with keyword rich text like "Bahamas," "rental," "bonefish," etc. (and the pictures are too big - almost 1 meg each).
5) (debatable perhaps): Get a real domain name and hosting - cheap!
This is all quick, easy and effective.
Another site: Maine Fishing
- this one's not as bad, but that stilted unnatural front page text annoys me (Maine Maine Maine) and probably the search engines too! A "Maine Fishing and Hunting blog" would perform SEO miracles for this site - you listening Igor and Karen? :)
Effective Internet Presence: Now required for success in business and life

Maine fishing/Bradford is a nice site, but that first page text is $%#%%ing atrocious!
