Some new podcasts
I've been listening to some new podcasts. I've been exposed to all these while interviewing podcasters for my next book. Yes, I still need a few more people and stories for the book - got an idea? Email me.
Many people like to listen to information. Some prefer to read. Yet others prefer video.
I've a reading and listening guy myself, so blogs, books, and podcasts are great for me.
As a Luddite, I usually burn podcasts to CD and listen in the car. My 1978 Purple Gremlin doesn't have an MP3 player, but I ripped out the 8-track player and retrofitted it with a CD player, so it works for me.
If you've never listened to a podcast, you really should experience a few. No, you don't need an iPod or Purple Gremlin. You can play them on your computer.
Business:
Managing The Grey, by C.C. Chapman
I've listen to all 5 podcasts within 24 hours, so it MUST be good :) C.C. is well known for his work with podsafe music and his music podcasts.
"This podcast aims to help the business professional, through insights and interviews, stay up to date on what is happening in the world of new media, consumer generated content and no control PR."
New Comm Road by Bryan Person. One podcast so far, with a fascinating interview on how Oxfam uses MySpace.
Technical:
Network Security Podcast by Martin McKeay.
Great if you're a security dude like me. OK, I'm a blog/podcast/marketing/new media dude maybe 50% of the time, and a security dude the other 50% of time, as measured by revenue. It's NOT a strange mix - it's all about information and appropriate access and distribution.
Mommies/parenting:
Manic Mommies A very well done podcast - I interviewed Kristin last night. Working mommies.
Mommycast - A super popular (and commercially successful) podcast. Thanks Gretchen for the Interview.
Wine:
Grape Radio: Yes, I like wine. If you do too, these guys rock!
Effective Internet Presence: Now required for success in business and life

I always try to keep a couple of informationals (cd's) in my car. It is a great way to turn commute time into something useful.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the podcast. Especially from someone like you! I hope you stay subscribed.

C.C.
You can count on it! Especially as an IT guy who is now hanging out with lots of marketing folks -- somewhat like you, I find your thoughts and advice fascinating.
And I think most people, both those that "get it" and those that don't, can really get value from your podcast. So what is "it?" Listen to ManagingTheGray.com!

I second Ted's comment about the quality of Managing the Gray. It's quickly become a must-listen!
Thanks also for the compliment on New Comm Road, Ted. I'm enjoying it. By the way, the second episode of the show was released over the weekend, with an interview with Christopher Penn, whose podcast has directly generated some serious income for its company. Thanks - burning your latest New Comm Road to CD so I can listen to it tomorrow while driving my Purple Gremlin to work!
