Content is King?
My co-author for Blogging for Business, Shel Holtz, muses that Content is King. Kinda.
Great content is NECESSARY, but NOT SUFFICIENT (yes, I'm yelling! It's important.)
The content must be in a convenient form. A podcast where audio levels routinely require playing with the volume or a horribly written blog entry do not suffice. Neither do great ideas sketched on soggy cocktail napkins as they did during the Go-Go Internet years.
Great content, decent format, reasonably convenient. The killer combo.
Free is good too, but not required.
Effective Internet Presence: Now required for success in business and life

It seems to me that the list of things that are necessary is longer than most people want to believe. Some people think that all they need is that one link from an A-list blogger. yet like so many things most over night sensations in blogging have really put in their time, developed their craft and then only when all that preparation hits the right "get discovered" opportunity do they get the chance at the big time themselves.
