Better blogging results

I wrote earlier that you need at least some basic planning for successful blogging.

But planning is an ongoing process!

As I'm writing in my forthcoming Tips Booklet:

Review your goals, blog focus, and where you are with respect to them every quarter. Put the review date on your calendar to insure you don't skip it. Tweaking goals and focus at review time is fine, but large-scale changes can lose readers.

Originally my primary goal for this blog was to help promote my books, Blogging for Business and now What No One Ever Tells You About Blogging and Podcasting as well.

I've modified my goals to include producing information products on successful business blogging.

Why? "Why" is always a good reason to ask.

Two reasons: Obviously one is to make money - I like money :) Also to help bloggers. I consult one on one with quite a few bloggers, but obviously I don't have enough time for everyone and not everyone has enough money for me (and my wife, three kids, dog, mortgage, expensive hobbies, . . .)

Plan. Then occasionally review and tweak your plan.

Yes, (I'm talking about planning in general) a lot of people fail to plan because they do not know that plans can be changed and tweaked along the way. They have trouble deciding what they eventually need.

What I learnt recently, was also that its at least better to have a rough plan than no plan. At least there something to lead you towards a direction.

T Demop, Blogging for Business

Kian Ann,

I find when I'm really busy, having a plan for each day can even help -- what absolutely needs to get done.

It can help me avoid the feeling of overload!
