Reading Blogs Efficiently - Feedreaders
Reading more blogs more quickly
Feedreaders, also known as news aggregators or simply aggregators, are how most technically hip people read blogs.
They allow reading lots of blogs without physically visiting them -- i.e. QUICKLY!
The screenshot shows the very popular and free Bloglines feedreader. The blogs (and other Web Sites) we are monitoring with bloglines are on the left.
In the main screen we see the most recent posts of Mike Sansone's ConverStations blog.
Feedreaders show us what's new on a blog or feed enabled Website.
Since I don't need to play with URLs/visit multiple Websites, I can consume more blogs more quickly.
How important are "feeds" (automatically built into your blog) and
feedreaders to your audience? It depends on their technical level. For
example, most of the readers of this blog read it via a feedreader.
Most of the readers of my The Ted Rap blog do not.
Feeds and feedreaders are becoming more important quickly - Microsoft's soon to be released Internet Explorer 7.0 and Vista have this functionality bundled in.
Downside? Well, people won't see what's in your sidebar or header, for example a picture of you or any advertisements (feed advertising will be covered later!)

Effective Internet Presence: Now required for success in business and life

Just as a quick recommendation, I'm using GreatNews and find it to be an excellent "fat client" feedreader.
