Blogs aren't the story in 07!
It's the effect of blogs on Websites that will be the big story.
Ordinary Web sites will become more blog-like in 2007.
Why? "We the people on the Internet" are tired of impersonal marketing junk! And blogs simply work!
The most effective Web sites will be written in a personal conversational blog-style, or will at least have a personal section. Think of it as an "About Us" or "About Me" section on steroids.
Of course many more business Web sites will have associated blogs, but the big story will be the decline of business speak and marketese. They will still exist, but in a more limited role, only appearing where appropriate and effective.
A conversational and personal style of writing will slowly spread over the Internet, conquering personal and business Web sites alike!
This is part of Probloggers Reviews and Predictions group writing project.
Effective Internet Presence: Now required for success in business and life

well I think it's more then the effect, the effect is because of the passion behind it. There will have to be replacement...

I think you are right, we are going to see more businesses utilizing blogs because it really works, not to mention how much search engines LOVE blogs for their frequently updated content....
We also participated in this project, stop on by if you get a chance!

I agree wholeheartedly. If businesses are smart, they'll realize the new generation wants personalization and genuine contact.
It will be very interesting to sit back to passively observe how it shall develop from here - I predict big changes in marketing straight ahead.

Definitely true, I'm already noticing a more interactive and conversational tone on my websites I visit.
I found you on the Problogger predictions and reviews participation list and thought I’d pop over to say hi.

Spot on and every business - big or small - will have to adapt.
And those that talk "with" their customers and not "at" them will ultimately win out.

Hi Rashenbo,
Thanks for stopping by - yes, Web sites do seem to be getting conversational.
Martin,
Absolutely - conversations, not broadcasting!
