How to Make Almost Anyone read your blog
If you write about someone, and even better if you link to them if they blog, excellent chance they will visit your blog and perhaps even comment.
I referred to Paula Mooney here, and she showed up and even left a comment! Same with Kevin Hillstrom -- he left a comment too (and I may read his Database Marketing book as a result).
Jim Walton wrote about me here. I visited pretty quickly and left a comment.
In my previous post, I mentioned several people by name. Looks from my stats like most people have visited the post, and Dianna has left a comment too. From my statistics, looks like most if not all the folks mentioned have already visited!
I never mention people for no reason, but I always give credit and name names otherwise as appropriate. It's only fair and honest, but I'm becoming amazed at how quickly people track down any references and links to themselves on the Internet!
Hint: Google Alerts are almost magic :)
Now, I've dimmed the lights and lit candles. Everyone chant "Elvis Presley, Jerry Garcia -- visit Ted, visit Ted . . . " I'll let you know if it works.
Effective Internet Presence: Now required for success in business and life

Ted, this is soooo true. And here I am again!
And might I say that your new book,
What No One Ever Tells You About Blogging and Podcasting, is excellent!
I took it everywhere with me, read it on the recumbent bike at the health club, stayed up till 2 a.m. a couple of nights pouring over the great tips therein.
I've learned so much and I'm not even done. Look for me to blog about it soon...

Thanks for the kind words Paula, and for allowing me to suddenly get you to appear again :)

Ted,
And I might add, make it easy for people to leave comments. A very nice blogger wrote an excellent post based on something I wrote in my blog.
When I visited her site, I couldn't leave a comment because you have to log in to Google's Blogger. And for some reason, I cannot figure out how to do that (I have a Google account but logging in doesn't allow me post a message).

Diana,
That's a great point. One friend's blog requires logging in to a system I don't use often. I setup an account to leave comments on his blog, but usually I don't bother! (never remember my password anyway!)
Thanks for re-appearing. Now where is Elvis and Jerry?

Thanks for the nice comments about my geeky book. Google alerts work!

Yes, Google alerts are great. I should probably post specifics on them sometime.
