Obviously I'm not a big fan, although I'm open minded.
How about, "Posting will be light the next few . . . because . . ." posts?
I feel somewhat differently about these, although they still don't excite me. It's OK if an active poster suddenly says they won't be posting much for a few days for some reason.

For me it all depends. If someone usually posts a couple of times a day and stop all of a sudden I wonder. So it is nice if they post a "I'll be gone for a while" post. On the other hand if they post once a week there is no need. I guess the rule of thumb is that it is ok if you are going to be gone some multiple of the time between your usual posting gap.
