Well I'm currently using a blog to market my business, eventually I'll expand and setup a forum and possibly a web portal, although I'm still such in two minds about that. I think blogs are most useful for those who are interested in getting up and close with their customers which makes it more effective to market your products, if thats the purpose of your blogs. They also eliminate any sort of problems you may have with design of pages, as all blogs come with ready made templates for your perusual.

Hey Ted, I like the quote from you in the article... "The focus should be on your potential customers, and you shift it there by giving them value, by giving them useful information."
I started writing about that concept back in 1998, about how writing online can help you create a value engine. I still believe that to be true and face a personal challenge.
Today, on my blog, I asked the question "Is blogging a marketing or networking activity? When does blogging become a distraction?"
I have been thinking a lot about business blogging and the potential for distraction and energy drain for solo entrepreneurs.
Could you stop by and weigh in on the conversation? I am curious to hear your viewpoint.
Thanks in advance!
Greg
