Effective Internet Presence comments
Some great comments on my ebook Effective Internet Presence -- over 5 million downloaded (I'm exaggerating, although the server buckled under the downloads a couple times!)
Morty Schiller at Wordrider says:
It's not enough to be online.
Alfred Thompson the Cyberspace People Watcher says :
"I recommend to people who either don't think they need an Internet presence or who have realized that they do but don't know how to get started building one."
Becky McCray SmallBizSurvival mentions Effective Internet Presence in her brag basket, and also interviews me in An effective internet presence for your small business.
Phil Gerbyshak, at Make It Great! says:
One the most web 2.0/Internet/blog savvy people I know is Ted Demopoulos
The ebook is a fantastic primer for all who are getting started developing their web presence, and I recommend you download it and read it right away. It'll only take 20-30 minutes to read, and then more time to follow Ted's suggestions, but it will change the way you think about your Internet presence.
Dianna Huff at Marcom Writer Blog says "great guide" and
In fact, I recently had someone from my son’s school email me with this opening line, “Hey! I Googled you. I didn’t know you were a writer!”
In other words, it’s really hard these days to remain anonymous, so it really pays to ensure your online presence shines the best light on you possible.
Dianna and I will be collaborating on teleseminars later this year.
Raven Young at Raven's Brain says:
If you blog or are simply looking to build your understanding of creating and developing an effective Internet presence check out the free ebook Effective Internet Presence, you can't go wrong!
Liz Fuller at More Than We Know describes it as a:
Free gift for reading through a somewhat lengthy post full of great resouces on "take advantage of all the opportunities that present themselves in our lives"
Liz also talks about How to get quoted in the Wall Street Journal and other msm using me as an example
John Kremer was kind enough to mention the ebook in his excellent Book Marketing Tip of The Week newsletter.
Wayne Hurlbert and I will be talking about an Effective Internet Presence at 1/31/2008 8:00 PM Eastern on Blog Talk Radio -- Wayne always has a great show as I mentioned before and it'll be good to be back!
Kristen Havens at The Post Pub says:
" . . . essential (and quick) reading for anyone who's just starting to get their feet wet with personal branding online. This is a primer on how to manage, control and improve your reputation online -- not a guide to aggressive online marketing. But it's a good, solid starting place for anyone overwhelmed by the possibilities and wondering where to start."
My old friend Andy Piper at The lost outpost says:
I really do encourage you to take a look at the full book - there were a number of snippets that resonated or made me think.
Christopher Penn at The Financial Aid Podcast and I discuss an Effective Internet Presence, especially from the student perspective, for quite a while on the podcast. Christopher understand this stuff at least as well as I do! This was picked up by the mainstream media as well.
Ricky Mondello at Eposay says:
The information is great, and I recommend that every online citizen, especially those who are on the job market, take a listen.
Mark Lloyd at Without Prejudice says
I think I'll have to read Ted's book.
I'm sure I missed a few more recent links and comments, but just want to thank everyone!

Thanks to Beth Kantor for all the delicious links!

Hi, Ted:
I was happy to read about “Effective Internet Presence” on Morty Schiller’s blog. I’ve been a fan of yours ever since David Meerman Scott blogged about your “Google Crowns Author Ted Demopoulos Dullest Person” press release. I decided then and there that you MUST be a person of great wit and intelligence! (FYI: You'll be proud to know that I Googled both “dull person” and "dullest person" today, and your name came up #1 in both searches!)
I hope you won’t mind if I share one small criticism of one small part of your ebook with you: Like so many blog marketing gurus, you recommend leaving comments on other people’s blogs as a way to build one's Internet presence. But, also like the other gurus, you don’t give much specific information about what makes a blog comment truly effective.
I think you will agree that -- especially when one is new at leaving comments -- it is important that the comments catch people’s attention. I think that many people who are thoughtful and intelligent, and have lots of insights and information to share, would really LIKE to leave blog comments that get noticed. However, while they probably know that an effective blog comment should go beyond “I agree” or “good post,” in many cases, they are not sure exactly HOW to write a truly effective comment. And most marketing experts simply don’t tell them how to do this.
For some time, I have been a real fan of leaving comments on other people’s blogs to promote one’s expertise. In fact, when I first started my medical advocacy blog, HonestMedicine.com, leaving comments was MY ONLY MARKETING METHOD. It got my blog noticed pretty quickly on some very high-visibility blogs. Soon, people were posting about, and linking to, Honest Medicine.
But, I don’t agree with you that leaving thought-provoking comments is simple. (In your ebook, you call commenting a “fantastic, quick technique.”) I spend lots of time and effort writing my comments, and I really think that’s why they have gotten such good results.
I now have a second blog, WebBasedPR.com, where people can find information about HOW to write blog comments that are effective and attention-getting. Several examples of blog comments that have gotten attention for HonestMedicine may be found at http://www.301url.com/comments ; WebBasedPR.com has several postings on the topic, as well.
I hope that more and more experts will start to use blog comments to get their important messages out to the public.
David Meerman Scott regularly points out that creating great blog content is the way to compete on the Internet. Blog comments, too, should contain great content, no?
Thanks for letting me share my opinions with your blog visitors.

Hi Julia,
Thanks for the praise and comments!
Your right, some people do need help writing good comments. Some would say I do too! Examples are great, and I'm going to go take a look at yours

Ted:
Thanks so much for commenting on my comment. I must say that I sincerely doubt that you need my help with writing your blog comments, since you are a writer -- and famous! However, if a person who is just starting out in the blog commenting arena does a lousy job of it, he or she may get the WRONG kind of visibility. (I am NOT one of those PR people who says: "There is no such thing as bad PR." There certainly is bad PR -- and badly written blog comments that are not well thought out can definitely be bad PR!)
I am hoping that my articles on WebBasedPR will help people to write comments that will get them noticed -- in a GOOD WAY!!
Thanks again, Ted, for commenting about my comment. And thanks, too, for taking the time to look at my blogs/sites. I really appreciate your interest.
