What's a Blog?
I've long said there are no rules -- guidelines perhaps on what's worked for others, but certainly no rules, not for something so new as blogging.
I try to avoid any advice that includes the word "must."
and adds that many big companies, i.e. "the slow and the big," demand iron clad rules, whether for blogging, advertising, or anything else.
Copyblogger Clark, who started this discussion, says:
what ever happened to it depends?
although he does try to "try to stick to fundamentals of solid writing."
A blog is just a tool. Use it however you'd like. How should you use it? It Depends.
Effective Internet Presence: Now required for success in business and life

Blogging is a fad anyway.
By the way, I really like the "cover" design on "Effective Internet Presence"

Thanks Reg -- did it myself, with a little help from my designer.

Here's an interesting blogpost on this topic:
http://www.jamesbrausch.com/why-you-should-blog/
The REALLY interesting thing is that this post was written about 20 months ago... and he just recently released his blog traffic stats for November 2007, where he had a total of 206,350 visits:

He also posted some of his December 2007 stats here:

Whether blogging is a fad or not, it's certainly making a ton of money for some bloggers. ;-)

Hi Sharon,
Some interesting links there -- thanks for sharing. I'm going to re-read them later too. Think we'd all like that kind of traffic!
